"My family line on my father's side has been researched back 9 generations. Everyone was born in the exact same house, which is still standing. It’s our family heritage, and my dream is to restore it."

I accidentally discovered I have relatives in Brazil. No one in the family ever mentioned it, and while looking through steamship passenger lists for a client case, I stumbled upon my own ancestors.

"My family heritage is my great-grandmother's traditional embroidered shirts (vyshyvankas). My mother continues this tradition, and it’s our connection across generations."

This inspired me to research my roots even deeper and help others discover their family histories.

"I compare the process of researching a family tree to putting together a puzzle. Every piece helps you better understand the big picture."

Marichka created a project called “Shadows of Unforgotten Ancestors,” where she researches the history of the entire village her family comes from.

"What inspires me most is the moment when dry archival records come together to form a living family story."

Daria’s family didn't preserve any of their embroidered shirts. But by learning more about her ancestors' places of origin, she now embroiders shirts herself using traditional regional patterns.

"To me, genealogy is fundamentally important. It's just like knowing your native language or the history of your country."

When a person knows who stands behind them, it becomes much harder to break them or throw them off course.

"It’s incredibly important to me to capture every moment. Old photographs of relatives hold special value—those who are no longer with us, or those I’ve never even met."

Such photos speak of memory, roots, and a silence that says more than words ever could.
